How we got here

The analysis uses Ghana’s 2021 Population and Housing Census to construct a Multidimensional Housing Quality Index covering nine indicators, including durability, crowding, water, electricity, toilets, waste disposal, cooking fuel and space. It finds urban areas score higher (73.1) than rural areas (45.3) and identifies housing poverty as deficits exceeding one-third of total weight.
