Specialist divers have uncovered a Roman-era wreck near Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, packed with hundreds of Dressel 1A amphorae. The vessel, dating to the 1st or 2nd century BC, was found about 46 metres deep after a tip-off from fishermen. Culture officials will document and protect the site as archaeologists study its cargo and origins.
