The Guardian, France 24 and AP News report that Mahmoud Khalil has filed a federal lawsuit alleging a coordinated campaign between Trump administration officials, the Heritage Foundation and online surveillance groups Canary Mission and Betar US to punish and silence supporters of Palestinian rights. The suit cites a “public-private partnership” and invokes the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871. Khalil is also fighting deportation and has spent time in immigration detention.
