Bavarian border town, site of historic Alpine retreat
A fire has destroyed large parts of the Kehlsteinhaus in the Bavarian Alps. Authorities have detained a person of interest as investigators weigh possible arson. Firefighters faced access challenges due to the site’s elevation. The building, completed in 1938, now operates as a cafe and museum.
