The Burmese python (Python bivittatus) is among the world’s largest snakes, native to Southeast Asia and listed as Vulnerable. In news, a New Jersey rescue climaxes a local keeper’s ongoing efforts to free a shed snake from a Jeepers Creepers event.
A Burmese python, recently full after a large meal, has been removed from a New Jersey shed after a rescue operation. The snake had blocked the escape route, requiring floor removal to extract it. X-rays showed the meal was a possum. Authorities say the snake will be placed in a zoo or with a licensed private owner.
