The government has announced that every Crown Court in England and Wales will have at least one specialist courtroom for rape and serious sexual-offence cases within two years. Trials will have fixed dates, victims will get private entrances and trauma-informed support, and staff will receive dedicated training. The move follows advocacy by Labour MP Charlotte Nichols and is supported by Rape Crisis England & Wales, which praises the reforms as long overdue.
