Southwestern China’s inland metropolis
Severe rainfall has triggered floods and resettlement across southern and central China. Authorities warn of more downpours as rescue efforts continue and emergency responses are under way in Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi and other provinces.
A rain-triggered landslide in Pengshui County, Chongqing, has killed several people and displaced thousands. Rescuers have freed some survivors and are continuing search-and-rescue efforts as authorities allocate relief funds and assess infrastructure damage.
