The 89-year-old Norwegian monarch has been admitted to hospital for a bacterial blood infection; he has responded to antibiotics and remains on sick leave while Crown Prince Haakon serves as regent. The palace says his condition is stable and he is receiving cortisone for an underlying blood disorder.
