Tax-funded ARIA programme backs 14 projects to boost wild species’ resilience to climate change, including gene-editing and biotech tools. Projects span ash tree vaccines, butterfly resistance, and drought-adaptive oaks, with secure labs and strict ethics in place. Public funding aims to complement conservation, not replace it.
