Cuxhaven is a North Sea port city in Lower Saxony with about 52,000 residents, a ferry harbor, and a historic link to Ritzebüttel Castle; it anchors tourism, fishing and ship registration for Hamburg. The latest: a donkey attack south of Cuxhaven injures a driver.
A donkey named Freddy, roaming with a horse near a roundabout in Holssel, south of Cuxhaven, has become aggressive. It jumped into a van after drivers attempted restraint. A 33-year-old woman who tried to help was hospitalised; drivers sustained minor injuries. The owner arrived to secure Freddy; the cause of the aggression remains unclear.
