Japanese artistic gymnast, Olympic champion and world medalist
Gymnastics world championships in Rotterdam see Kaylia Nemour (Algeria) win uneven bars gold, Artur Davtyan (Armenia) claims vault, and British gymnasts Jarman and Blakely add to medal tally as the event tightens Olympic qualification stakes.
Russian gymnasts Angelina Melnikova, Viktoria Listunova and Anna Kalmykova have reportedly been refused Dutch visas to compete at the Rotterdam World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, opening team qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The move draws protests from the Russian federation and reflections on the IOC/World Gymnastics stance, as the event proceeds 17–25 October.
At the 2026 World Gymnastics Championships, American Blakely has won the women’s all-around title after a two-year comeback from injuries, finishing with a lead of over a half-point. China and Japan also claim podium spots in the eventful championships.
