German chancellor Friedrich Merz has travelled to Kyiv and has announced a package including €1 billion in military aid and €350 million for energy repairs. He has said Germany will deepen defence cooperation, finalise joint drone production and press Ukraine on EU-requested reforms while warning that Russia’s attacks threaten Europe.
