The Royal Shakespeare Company has postponed the new Othello at the Swan Theatre after Sharon Clarke, who was set to star, begins treatment for cancer. Tickets will be refunded and a replacement production is planned for early 2027. Clarke, known for Holby City and her stage work, remains positive and supported by her team.
Philip Jerome has been jailed for 12 months after breaching a stalking prevention order by contacting actress Piper through social media, attending events and keeping a notebook of notes. Police found images and posts about Piper on his devices; his pattern shows a long history of harassment.
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has expressed interest in playing the next Bond villain, as odds narrow on the star of Slow Horses, Letitia Wright’s successor, to take the 007 mantle. Ronan says she is “dead serious” about a villain part, while Emilia Lowden continues to be mentioned as a frontrunner for Bond. The pair would become the first married couple to work opposite each other in a Bond film if cast.
A Bristol-born team has produced Doctor Who: Outlander, a fan-driven film set around John F. Kennedy’s era. The project, created with students and professionals, has been shot in Bristol and Bath and premieres in Cardiff as the crew aims to keep the Doctor Who spark alive after the 2026 Christmas special was cancelled.
The Crown Prosecution Service has charged the actor Noel Clarke with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure, relating to alleged offences between 2007 and 2016 involving five women. Clarke is due in Westminster Magistrates' Court on 21 October after an investigation that began in September 2025.
BAFTA Scotland has announced seven nominations for the film I Swear, including three best film actor nods, as John Davidson attends in a relaxed space after the February controversy. The ceremony is set for 15 November in Glasgow, with Edith Bowman hosting.
