The NHS has launched a program to send self‑testing HPV kits to eligible women aged 30–65 who have missed cervical screening appointments. The at‑home swabs test for high‑risk HPV; negative results lead to in‑person follow‑ups. The phased rollout aims to boost screening uptake and support the 2040 elimination target.
The NHS has expanded access to emergency contraception by making the morning-after pill available free at community pharmacies, with confidential consultations and same-day prescriptions. In five months, almost 305,000 doses have been provided, and pharmacists can also advise on longer-term contraception. The scheme aims to remove barriers and reach deprived communities, with private options still available.
