Minor League Baseball team; Padres affiliate in El Paso
Oswaldo Pirela, a Venezuelan-born Padres minor league catching coordinator, has been released on bond and is reunited with his family after ICE detained him at El Paso airport on Aug. 16 during a work trip. The Padres corroborate his release; DHS says he entered lawfully in 2014 but later overstayed. Family says he has been pursuing asylum and work permits; DHS maintains he is in removal proceedings.
