U.S. vehicle safety regs setting design, performance, and durability rules
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a probe into Tesla’s Cybercab, a two-seater autonomous taxi deployed in Austin, Texas. The agency is assessing the vehicle’s self-certified compliance with FMVSS standards, given the absence of traditional manual controls. Tesla has not commented. The probe follows the rollout of Cybercabs among a growing fleet of autonomous vehicles.
