Cross-border town on the Saar-Mosselle edge
Mathilde Demoncay, the 26-year-old referee, was dragged into a melee during a pre-season match between Metz and Fortuna Sittard in Forbach. She fell after intervening, remained on the pitch for minutes, and left at half-time as players and medical staff responded. Fortuna Sittard described the moment as a remarkable moment; Metz offered no comment. Metz won 3-1.
