Major League Baseball has proposed cutting the U.S./Canada and international amateur drafts to 12 rounds beginning in 2027, with $200 million signing pools per draft and hard caps. The plan would raise eligible ages for amateur and international players, boost free-agency timing, and begin the international draft no earlier than Sept. 2027; negotiations continue.
