Scientists from New Zealand's NIWA have identified a new species of ghost shark, named Harriotta avia, found in deep waters off Australia and New Zealand. The discovery highlights the unique morphology and genetic distinctiveness of this species, which thrives at depths of up to 2,600 meters.
