Around six million households will receive the Warm Home Discount this year, automatic for those named on energy bills who meet means-tested criteria. The government warns the August deadline must be met to qualify, with 2.4 million eligible households not receiving the discount due to bill-name issues. Scotland runs the scheme non-automatically; others may apply. Letters will advise late claimants to call the helpline, and charges on energy bills are set to fall via VAT cuts and price cap changes.
