The Justice Department has reached a settlement with former President Donald Trump over an IRS controversy. The deal bars audits of Trump, his family, and affiliates for existing tax matters and establishes an $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund for allies; the arrangement covers only existing audits, not future ones.
The administration has finalized a rule to end federal Medicaid and CHIP funding for gender-affirming care for minors, including puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries, effective Oct. 13. Mental health services remain funded. The rule draws praise from proponents of restricting such care and opposition from major medical groups and LGBTQ+ advocates.
