The Icelandic Coast Guard has detained the crew of protest vessel Bandero after a confrontation with whaling ship Hvalur 9. Bandero ignored orders to leave Icelandic waters and to stop its engines. About 21 Bandero crew members are in custody aboard the ship in Reykjavik, with police planning deportation and a ban on re-entry. The arrest follows Bandero's earlier collision with a krill trawler and ongoing tensions over Iceland’s commercial whaling.
