Abderrahim Fakir, a 42-year-old Moroccan-born businessman, has died after police restrained him in Bologna. Video shows officers holding him face down while he pleads for help; paramedics are visible at the scene. Prosecutors have opened a manslaughter inquiry, bodycam footage has been requested and protests have since erupted across the city.
Divers have uncovered a 2,000-year-old shipwreck near Mazara del Vallo, packed with hundreds of wine and oil amphorae. Italy’s culture ministry says the vessel dates to the 1st or 2nd century BC and will be documented and protected as researchers study its cargo and origins.
