The April downing of a US F-15E over Iran has led to a high-stakes rescue operation. Alpha was rescued within six hours; Bravo spent about 36–48 hours behind enemy lines before being brought to safety. Over 90 US personnel operated on the ground, with air support, and two rescue aircraft were destroyed to prevent Iran from gaining access to them.
