From 17 August, the 16-17 Saver Railcard will remain valid for a full year from purchase, even if the holder turns 18. The move, backed by the DfT, closes a gap that left about 70,000 students each year £175 worse off, and aligns the card with other youth railcards. The change aims to lower travel costs for young people during education and training.
