Kenya has confirmed its first imported case of Bundibugyo Ebola after a Kenyan who fell ill in the Democratic Republic of Congo travelled by road through Uganda and flew to Nairobi on Oct. 3. The patient has tested positive, died on Oct. 5 and authorities have identified and begun monitoring dozens of contacts and flight passengers.
Kenya has confirmed imported Ebola cases linked to the DRC outbreak. Health authorities are tracing contacts, strengthening infection control at facilities, and urging vigilance. Two suspected cases in Nanyuki and Wajir have been ruled out as Ebola while a Kenyan citizen who died in Nairobi was linked to the DRC outbreak.
