Slovenian goalkeeper, Atlético Madrid captain, La Liga stalwart
Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister has expressed sadness at not receiving a new contract, while teammates Szoboszlai and Gravenberch have extended deals. He has options to leave, and recent results show his form remains pivotal as Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid to start their Champions League campaign.
Liverpool has defeated Atletico Madrid 3-2 in a Champions League clash, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring a stoppage‑time winner after Szoboszlai and Barcola goals. Barcola also debuts but exits with a calf injury amid a high-stakes night for new signings.
Scotland’s new head coach has overseen a goalless draw with Slovenia in Ljubljana in his first match in charge. Billy Gilmour returns from injury to drive the midfield; Oli McBurnie and Robbie Ure debut while Stephen Welsh occupies a new left-back/centre-back role. Scotland improve after a half-time reshuffle but fail to convert chances, leaving the Nation League opener with a point.
