UK exam-boards body; a single voice for eight major qualification providers
GCSE results have narrowed the gender gap as 2026 outcomes show more pupils achieving top grades in maths and English. Across the UK, around 22% of entries have top grades (7/A and above) and around 70% reach a standard pass (4/C). England reports strong maths performance, while concerns persist about post-16 resits and long-term employment outcomes for boys.
UK A-level entries have reached a record high with top grades rising again. Maths remains the most popular subject, while the share of A/A* grades has increased. Boys lead in top grades, with economics and other quantitative subjects gaining traction as students weigh future job prospects.
