Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel has died following a cardiac arrest sustained in a Spanish second-division match.
CD Tenerife has announced that 30-year-old striker Jesús de Miguel has died today after being taken to hospital following a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in stoppage time of Monday’s Segunda División match. The game was abandoned, Owono was sent off, and Spanish authorities have opened a routine judicial inquiry into the death.
