Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by ICE at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and returned to the United Kingdom after an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 for failing to attend a hearing. DHS says he legally entered in May 2019 and then overstayed his authorised stay; ICE held him pending removal on August 28–29, 2026.
The Department of Justice and Education Department have opened a joint investigation into the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, alleging that the admissions process discriminates on race and uses essay prompts to group applicants by identity. Berkeley says it complies with Prop. 209 and federal law, and will provide evidence of compliance. The probe follows a Supreme Court decision on race-conscious admissions and may impact future diversity policies in higher education.
Turkish authorities have carried out coordinated raids across at least five provinces in a campaign called "My Family is Safe," detaining more than 100 people, searching LGBTQ+ and HIV‑advocacy offices, raiding bars and homes, and blocking social media accounts; ministers say the operation protects children and family values.
