American former tennis pro, Wimbledon finalist 1996
Alexander Zverev has won his second major, defeating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-2 in New York. The German adds the US Open crown to his French Open triumph, keeping American men without a Grand Slam since 2003. Shelton, aiming to be the first Black American man to win the US Open since 1968, falls short in a dramatic final.
