Kurdish camps in Metina vacated; Turkish peace drive advances as militants withdraw amid talks. Metina’s role centers on northern Iraq security dynamics and Kurdish-Turkish negotiations.
The PKK has vacated its Hebat, Yajk, Sabri and Sason camps in Iraq’s Metina region, near the Turkish border, on Oct. 8, according to Anadolu Agency quoting security officials. The withdrawal follows Turkey’s push for a peace process, with a conditional pardon law awaiting National Security Council confirmation of full dissolution and disarmament. Turkish president Erdogan has linked the move to the broader recalibration of security ties with Iraq.
