State health agency serving Minnesota with offices statewide
Chipotle has removed jalapeños from restaurants after public health officials have linked a Salmonella Javiana outbreak to jalapeños served at multiple Mexican‑style restaurants. Minnesota has identified 110 cases tied to the outbreak; the FDA has opened an active investigation and has started sampling but has not issued a recall. Chipotle says it has replaced the peppers from different growers.
The multistate outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers imported from Mexico has sickened 345 people across 27 states, mainly in Minnesota and Colorado. Coast Citrus Distributors has recalled the peppers and notified customers; Chipotle and Qdoba have removed jalapeños from some or all locations. The FDA and CDC say the investigation is ongoing and no deaths have been reported. Hospitalizations total 36.
