Sweden has held a tightly contested general election that polls have shown tightening in the final days. The centre‑left led by Magdalena Andersson has led in many surveys but the gap narrowed to a dead heat as Prime Minister Ulf Kristerssons right‑wing bloc, backed by the Sweden Democrats, mobilised. A win for the right would give the far‑right party ministerial influence for the first time.
