Free and Sovereign State of Mexico on the Pacific coast
Hurricane Isaias has struck near Destin, Florida as a Category 2 storm and has weakened as it moved inland through Alabama. The system has cut power to hundreds of thousands, caused at least four storm-related deaths from fallen trees and a generator, and is producing heavy rain and flash-flood risks across the southeastern US.
Hurricane Simon is approaching Mexico’s Pacific coast, with warnings in place for Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit and Michoacán. Authorities have urged sheltering and evacuations as the storm is forecast to bring catastrophic winds, heavy rain and dangerous surf. The storm’s path keeps uncertainties about landfall, but preparations are under way.
