A 73-year-old American marine biologist, Kent Carpenter, has been shot dead in a Sibulan house during a home invasion. His Filipina companion was injured; attackers fled with a laptop, cash and a backpack. Investigators are probing the motive; the U.S. Embassy has been notified.
Three men broke into Kent Carpenter’s Sibulan home in Negros Oriental, shooting the 73-year-old marine biologist and raping his companion during a suspected robbery. Police say the attack was planned, not work-related, and a fourth suspect has been arrested while a lookout surrendered.
