Australian cricketer, NSW captain in Sheffield Shield
Australia has claimed a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after Josh Hazlewood's 6-49 helped dismiss South Africa for 206, securing a 214-run victory on the final day in Durban. Steve Smith has returned to field after concussion checks.
Khawaja has confirmed he will publish an autobiography, released days after Australia’s first Test tour of South Africa since the 2018 ball-tampering scandal. Cummins says he has moved on and notes investigators found no other players involved; Khawaja’s book will address events from that era.
In Gqeberha, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma scores 179 as South Africa declare 425-9, setting Australia a daunting follow-on target. Jansen's 5-33 and Harmer's 82 help build a 326-run first-innings lead; Australia are forced to follow on, with work to do over two remaining days.
