Independent U.S. banking regulator under Treasury
A hacking group calling itself ShinyHunters has claimed it has stolen two to three terabytes of FBI-related data, including a 5,000-line sample with names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers and assignment details for thousands of current and former FBI employees. The FBI has said it is aware of the claims, has taken the jobs portal offline and has opened an active investigation.
The US Treasury has assessed $1.2bn in civil penalties against Bank of America for failing to timely report more than $5bn in suspicious transactions, including over $1bn that posed national-security and high-priority risks. The OCC added a $750m penalty; OFAC settled for $11.6m. BofA has said the charge will reduce third-quarter earnings by about 17 cents per share.
