Gloves policy in OPS halted after the superintendent’s request; OPS serves ~52,000 students across 80+ schools in Omaha, Nebraska.
Omaha Public Schools have halted the use of G.L.O.V.E. gloves after an AP investigation revealed ICE's plan to distribute them. Superintendent Ray says he learned of the devices only last week. The police department had demonstrated their use, saying they achieved quick compliance with little force. The gloves were used twice in the 2025–2026 school year. Officials say officers will continue to carry other restraints.
