English serial killer, Yorkshire Ripper (1946–2020)
Rudakubana has been transferred from Belmarsh prison to Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital. Officials say the move is for safety and treatment and does not change his 52-year sentence. The decision is under scrutiny from families and officials as the two-year anniversary of the attack approaches.
Rudakubana, now 19, has charged offences in 2025 and 2025, after a 2024 knife attack that killed three children. He has moved from prison to Broadmoor psychiatric hospital, while prosecutors say the move does not alter his sentence.
The 20-year-old, jailed for a deadly 2024 attack in Southport, is appearing via video from Broadmoor as prosecutors lay out charges including attempted grievous bodily harm, assaults on prison officers, and possession of an offensive weapon. He is also facing a new request to remand him to the Old Bailey for October proceedings.
