Pitcher for the New York Yankees (1975–1988); long-time pitching coach. Widely regarded for a Hall of Fame-caliber peak and a lasting Yankees influence.
The Yankees overcome a 4-0 deficit as rookie Lombard delivers three RBIs, a slide at the plate, and a go-ahead homer in the eighth to beat the Rays 6-4. Wells starts the comeback with a homer; Lombard’s play and power cap a dramatic rally.
