A Utah judge has ruled on whether prosecutors should face sanctions for public comments about ballistics in the Kirk killing case. David Vander Meer, a former Las Vegas youth pastor, has been arrested on murder and insurance-fraud charges related to his wife Bernadette’s 2006 death on Angels Landing. Vander Meer has since died in custody ahead of a scheduled extradition hearing.
The five-day preliminary hearing in Utah will present evidence against Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old charged with aggravated murder in Charlie Kirk’s Sept. 10 death. Prosecutors aim to move to a full trial and seek the death penalty; Kirk’s family will attend with his widow and parents. DNA on the murder weapon and related items is among the evidence.
