Airport hub at Bangkok’s southern fringes
Heavy rain has dumped roughly 300–330mm across Bangkok since late September, forcing the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to declare all 50 districts disaster zones. Major roads and canals have flooded, about 52,000 households and thousands of residents have been affected, airports and businesses have suffered disruptions, and authorities have opened shelters and emergency relief funds.
Bangkok and dozens of provinces have faced heavy rains, swamping streets and delaying flights as authorities push flood-response efforts. The floods have damaged infrastructure and threaten the tourism-reliant economy, with thousands affected and damages estimated in the hundreds of millions. Authorities are deploying pumps and adjusting flight operations to keep airports functioning.
