Waymo plans phased testing in Munich this autumn, building high-definition maps and adapting software to the city’s conditions before a public launch by end-2027. The rollout in Munich marks another international expansion as Waymo targets a broader European footprint amid competition with Tesla and other AV players.
Waymo plans to let users hail robotaxis through its own app in Austin and Atlanta, while Uber will continue to host Waymo rides on its platform until January 2028. Current users in two cities can still book via Uber, with changes expected in 2028.
