Algierian town near borders; a Sahrawi and regional nexus
Spain's lower house has approved a bill granting Spanish nationality to Saharawi born before Sept. 29, 1977 and to their descendants through naturalisation. The measure, backed by the government, could affect 70,000-120,000 Sahrawis and now heads to the Senate for approval amid tense Spain-Morocco relations over Western Sahara and Ceuta migration pressures.
