A Tooro Kingdom selection committee has named Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, a Uganda Broadcasting Corporation editor and cousin of the late King Oyo, as crown prince. He is expected to be crowned this week to succeed Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who will be buried on Saturday near the Congo border. The decision follows a monarch who died after a cancer battle and sparked a public mourning period.
