China’s anti-corruption drive has purged senior officials, including a Politburo member, highlighting efforts to enforce loyalty and clamp down on corruption within the CCP. The latest expulsions follow investigations announced earlier in the year; authorities describe the actions as part of maintaining discipline in a top-down system.
The Central Military Commission’s vice chair Zhang Youxia and chief of staff Liu Zhenli have been removed amid a high‑profile anti‑corruption drive. Xinhua says the pair are accused of disloyalty and abuse of power; investigations were announced in January and they were removed from the CMC in August.
