Ukraine has warned airlines and insurers that expanding Ukrainian drone strikes have made Russian airspace unsafe for civilian flights. President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine is not targeting civilian aircraft but that "drone‑infested skies" require airlines to rethink routings. Moscow has called the warning "state terrorism" and pledged to protect airports and keep services running.
A flydubai co‑pilot has allegedly attacked the captain and attempted to crash flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Sept. 30. Passengers and off‑duty crew have overpowered and restrained him, the jet has made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE has opened a terrorism investigation while questions remain about the suspect’s background.
The co-pilot on Flight FZ1073 is identified as Hamam al-Hammami, an Omani national born in the UAE. UAE authorities describe the incident as an attempted terrorist operation and are reviewing vetting procedures as regional security officials assess motive and possible extremist connections. Passengers and crew subdued the co-pilot after a cockpit assault, averting a disaster.
