Nepal-born mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung is among ten climbers missing after an avalanche on Broad Peak; a veteran alpinist known for high-altitude ascent in the Himalaya.
An avalanche has struck a multinational expedition on Broad Peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram. Rescue teams have recovered at least three bodies and located a fourth; searches are continuing but weather and remote terrain are hampering operations. The expedition included climbers from Nepal, the US, Oman, Pakistan and China and was led by Nirmal Purja.
